| For nearly 50 years, The Playhouse in San Anselmo has served the community as a performing arts center for dance recitals, student performances, local and touring theatrical companies, music concerts and other innovative productions. | |
| Dear Playhouse Supporter, The 2009-2010 Playhouse season has begun and so have this year’s tireless efforts to raise the funds necessary to keep our community treasure in operation. The annual costs to run the Playhouse in San Anselmo are substantial, and the need for continued renovation is clear. Last year, we had our first Annual Fund Drive to help solidify a consistent flow of finances for general maintenance and improvements for our beloved Playhouse. A huge thank you to everyone who made financial contributions to the Playhouse during the 2008-2009 season. As a result of your generous support, the hanging microphones were replaced; doors were installed in the upstairs dressing rooms; backstage video monitors were installed; emergency lighting was replaced and supplemented; new folding chairs and backstage tables were purchased; the donors' plaque was installed in the Lobby, and offstage drapes were replaced. Due to the high demand for use of The Playhouse, the needs list for our building continues to grow. Challenging economic times hit the arts especially hard. Theatres are closing their doors or are on the brink of doing so in the Bay Area and beyond. Thus far, The Playhouse in San Anselmo has avoided the threat of closure thanks to ongoing generous community contributions. We appreciate your dedication and rely on your continuing financial support. If everyone who receives this letter donates just $10 to The Playhouse, this Annual Fund Drive would raise almost $40,000. Imagine what we could accomplish with donations of even greater amounts! Please consider donating generously to our 2009-2010 Annual Fund Drive to help preserve The Playhouse for this generation and generations to come.
